The fifth anniversary of Russian Orthodox Church unity is to be marked at Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco on Thursday, May 17, at 7:00 pm. Historic footage of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion will be shown and a new portrait of Metropolitan Laurus, painted in Russia specifically for the Holy Virgin Cathedral hall, will be presented.

This year’s pilgrimage to Fort Ross is especially important to all who cherish the Russian heritage. Fort Ross is celebrating 200 years in 2012!
Fort Ross was founded by the Russian-American Company in 1812. Currently, Fort Ross is administered by California State Park & Recreation Administration.
On Monday, May 28, 2012 (Memorial Day) we will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at 9:30 am. After the Liturgy, there will be a procession to the cemetery where our countrymen are buried, as well as local and Alaskan natives that had converted to Orthodoxy while working at Fort Ross and ended their earthly journey in this small corner of Russia. After the procession, a picnic lunch will be available $10 for adults and $5 for children.

It is with great joy that we invite you to gather on Sunday, April 1 at our majestic Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco to take part in our sixth annual Lenten Retreat, to examine, to learn, to pray, to meet and to be inspired.
The program begins with the Divine Liturgy (in English) at 7:30 a.m. Following breakfast, our first speaker, the Priest Martin Person, assistant pastor of the Protection of the Mother of God Church in Los Angeles, California, will present a talk: A Long Way Home: My Journey to Orthodox Christianity.
In the afternoon, at 1:30 pm, our guest speaker from the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Essex (England), Hieromonk Nikolai (Sakharov), will speak on the the topic: The XXI Century: Challenges We Face.
An open forum for questions and answers will follow. After the second talk guided tours of the Cathedral will be offered, providing historic and liturgical details about the many spiritual treasures within, including the shrine of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco. English Vespers start at 5:30 p.m., followed by informal fellowship in the cathedral hall.
The Kulich Faire this year will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 after the early Liturgy and will be located in the large hall (downstairs).

The Cathedral's Bookstore (www.hvcbookstore.com) is currently developing an online store that should be available in the next few weeks. The plan is to initially offer a small subset of the most popular items found in the store and over time the list of products is expected to grow significantly.
